Network Program | Buffalo Home Visiting Program Community Action for Prenatal Care | Community Health Worker Program
The Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network is one of 15 Comprehensive Prenatal Perinatal Services Networks in New York State. Established in 1987, it is one of the original five Networks created. The Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network provides support for all of the additional programs and services under its administration.
The purpose of the Buffalo Network is to improve pregnancy outcomes, promote better maternal and child/infant health care, establish better linkages between existing programs and ensure that families have access to the full range of preventive and primary health care, social support and educational resources in Erie County.
Key activities of the Network program include:
- Quarterly coordination meetings, which provide professional education and information sharing for maternal child health providers.
- Data collection and analysis to track trends in infant mortality, birth weights and other health indicators in the populations at risk.
- Professional education, conferences and training opportunities for maternal/child healthcare and human service providers, such as smoking cessation in pregnancy and HIV testing protocols.
- Development of innovative programs and pilot projects to address the specific needs of our community.
